I just added a new coin to my Judaean collection, a coin issued under Pontius Pilate (Hendin 649). It's in my image gallery at http://www.coincommunity.org/galler...upby&uid=162 and shown below.

For those who know a little about ancients and/or Judaean coins, give me your best guess as to what I paid. I'm curious as to how "smartly" I purchased this coin. I really like this piece because of the fact that it's well centered, has great detail and most of the legend, and nice "original" look to it.

That's cool, Prethen!

Value guess? Hard to say - depends how much the "Jesus may have held this coin" spin was applied. I'd say somewhere around $40 to $50? I haven't bought a Judaean coin in a while, so haven't really been paying attention; CV in the Sear Greek Imperial is £12 for "typical condition". For Pilate, I've only got one of the earlier (simpulum, year 16/~30 AD) types.

I have to laugh...you guys are making me feel like I seriously overpaid for it, which I don't believe I did. I paid $110 (total) for it. This coin very often comes in much worse looking condition for not a lot less than this (maybe $70). If it was any better detail than what you see here, it would be a $200-$300 coin easy.
