I have an I.C.C.S., VF-20, 1887 quarter as the dark as the Nova Scotia cent shown above, however, the coin is completely problem free and has all the features and details of a VF-30.
Most silver coins that that are 40+ years old should be dark in colour and if they are not, they have been cleaned/dipped at some time in the past.

If that were true, that "blast white" 47 quarter you sold totally fooled me, you take good pictures and I didn't see the dip signs and neither did ICCS. :D

It depends entirely on storage really. or we wouldn't have 1858 red pennies and blast white 20 cent pieces floating around. If they are circulated ... I expect lots of toning, lots of people touched them and kept them in pockets with gum and other other metal.
