Hi Everyone. I recently purchased a group of Canadian 5 cents which was supposed to include the 1884 5 Cent. However they put in a 1864 New Brunswick instead.

This is the coin...is this VG? Am I out a bundle here? I want the Canadian 5 cents, I am not a collector or Maritime coins yet. Any idea what I could get for this?

Cheers
TCW

Hi, TwoCentsWorth, I don't think it will make VG, looks more G-6, also been cleaned at one time.

Also, it is the 'large 6' variety, Charlton has it in G-4 at $75.00, if you can go by that.

Krause lists the large 6 in VG-8 for $75.00 and doesn't show a price for a lower grade than that.

Krause isn't really a factor here though.

I couldn't find any sold recently so it seems scarce enough.
