and if anyone else knows feel free to help. so I plan on buying this dansco here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Dansco-8176-Coi...em3f09fd66cfi don't get how there are 3 s mint for some years: like 1974 s clad proof, 1974 s 40% BU, 1974 s 40% proof. aren't all 3 of those proofs? what are the difference between these three? |

The "40% BU" is not a proof.

why would it have an s if it weren't proof? and they made silver's that aren't proofs? weird

I don't understand all the mint does or did. From 1976, I have business strike coins, and silver coins in uncirculated & proof.

In 1971, 1972, 1973, and 1974 There were three type of Ikes minted in San Francisco. The regular business circulation strike which was silver, a clad proof for non silver proof sets, and a silver proof.

In 1971 and 1972, there were S-mint mark Ikes in 40% silver BU, and 40% silver proof. No clad proofs. Edited by Mach1
