The only thing I can think of: The coin was priceless to the seller and he did not want to get rid of it. So he decided to sell it but at a price that would make him feel better about losing his personal treasure I know everyone has a coin they would not sell for less than millions of dollars because they have a personal connection to the coin. ps.
