Quote: The reverse designs are pretty good, except soccer, which looks like the kid is about to get hit by the ball.

The baseball girl looks like she is either going to miss the ball or knock it up and over backwards. I do like the obverse design, but not so much for the revers sides - Does everybody really have to get a 'participation' trophy? How about a few years for construction workers? Concrete workers, Framers, Electricians, low voltage, painters, drywallers, flooring folks, to name a few trades? We want our trophy too

If the new Washington obverse looks as good in-hand as the above illustrations depict, I'll call it a winner. The current cow-eyed depiction of Jefferson on the nickel could use a similar refresh.
The reverses don't do much for me. I'd like the Baseball reverse much more if the chain-link fence was deleted or replaced with a lively-looking group of spectators in the background. The current depiction looks much more like batting practice than an actual game.

The reverse of the Baseball (chain-link fence) and the reverse of the Golf (golf ball) will probably have some crazy varieties.
I can see the Golf version having a huge chunk broken out of the ball by whatever mintage means, and then it gets labeled the "Death Star". LOL

Like the obverses. . .they should look very nice in proof and silver proof sets. The junior golfer looks like an ANGC Drive, Chip, and Putt participant. . .Snowboarding conveys the motion and energy of the sport rather well.

Snowboarding reverse looks like they re-used the dies from the AI Vermont Dollar only reversed it.

They included skateboarding! I can clearly recall when that was a counter culture activity, considered antisocial and even a crime in some jurisdictions.
Seems to me this whole quarter program is kind of out of control. Of course the gov't makes money from every quarter saved; not spent. How far down the trickle list will they eventually go? Will we ever see personal collectibles hobbies honored, like stamps, coins, rocks & minerals (hugely popular among women), and perhaps even my own favorite -gasp- ---> old license plates ?

I still have two old Vision decks hanging in the garage. Quote: and perhaps even my own favorite -gasp- ---> old license plates ? I have quite a few of those hanging in the garage as well.

I quite agree, it's a bit out of control with the circulating commemorative quarters and dollars. However, it would also seem that they're nearing the point of exhausting the logical possibilities for themes on such coins in the future. After the American Innovation Dollar series wraps up in 2032, what's left that hasn't already been commemorated? At least they've abandoned issuing new Olympics coins every time they roll around, even if they're not being hosted in the USA.

There is no turning back at this point. These thematic series will continue long after the coins cease circulating.

Quote: From January 22 through February 20, 2025, members of the public reviewed the list and shared their preferences through an online survey. Back when this survey was being discussed, I suggested (on another forum) that everyone should log on and vote for "cricket" as their favourite sport, just to mess with the survey. I am sad to see that my attempt at mass-subversion of American culture via an online survey did not succeed.

Although I have gathered the ridiculous redesigns from 1999 to this year. ENOUGH. IT's DONE, FINISHED. US coin collecting has officially been murdered. Kaput, done, over. That was hasty. I mean, coin collecting after the turn of the century. A redesign every 2-3 months SERIOUSLY cheapens the hobby and makes it feel like a cheap crappy BS money game. Cheap. Okay, the Statehood Quarters were kinda cool. Even TEN YEARS, of redesigns. That's special! ONCE. Not in perpetuity, for crimminy's sake. In my view, a lack of stability does NOT lead to MY interest in collecting. When there's a new friggin' coin design every few months, sorry, but that blows it away for me. And yes, that has been going on for a quarter century, and yes, I've been objecting just as long. I've had it up to the gills with this B.S. and I'm content to end my collection before it began. In direct opposition to what others have said, I believe this crap is harmful to the hobby. Gone are the days when an album covered 60 years, and now it might cover a decade. Screw it!

You'll get little argument from me on those points, Vector Ze.
There are now so many circulating-commemorative quarters and dollar coins out there so as to make completion of a set something of a daunting task and possibly too much of financial commitment for the new collectors they're supposedly trying to bring into the hobby. Worse yet, the lack of aesthetic and artistic merit of many of the issues makes it an often-boring pursuit, as well.
The circulating commemoratives could have logically been limited to the 1976 Bicentennial issues, the 50-state quarters, 2009 Lincoln cents, and 2026 Semiquincentennial issues. As they say in show business: "Leave 'em wanting more!"
But no, that's not how it's going to go down. We'll undoubtedly see multi-year runs of State Flowers, First Ladies, State Birds...if they look to the Postal Service for inspiration, it could go on forever. And as we've already seen with philately, having too many new issues to collect every stinkin' year ruins it for many a collector.
