It can be a worthwhile exercise to build a collection of these 10 cash (1 cent) coins, one from each Chinese province, just like a States Quarter series.

Same can be done with silver 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents and 1 dollar coins. However, BE WARNED! Fakes of Chinese silver coins abound. If you do, examine each with a loupe, weigh each, and test for equal ring tone with an equivalent known genuine coin before deciding to buy.

I would believe the fake threat would not be anything like as great with the bronze 1 cent coins.

ah - found it on NGC! http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/Wo...oinid=124854

1906 Hunan 10 Cash. There's no fakes of these ones yet since they're quite plentiful. It's a good way to collect early China

This is, as Sel says, quite a nice series to look into - though some "gaps" will be pricy to fill.

I certainly wouldn't call this early China though - I'd say this was very much modern China. Early China is Spade, knife etc, money from 2000+ years ago.
