Need Help With These Chinese Porcelain Coins | Thai Tokens

aiglet7 Pillar of the Community Canada 695 Posts	Posted 02/02/2013 2:11 pm Porcelain tokens were first used in Siam (modern day Thailand) as counters for a game called Fantan at Chinese-run gambling houses. First they were used as gambling counters but later these tokens were widely accepted as small currency exchange within the districts where the gambling houses were located. The use of the tokens was eventually forbidden by Siam's King Rama V in 1875. However, the tokens remained in circulation for a long time and were still being used during the 20th century.It is believed that thousands of designs were created.
