Went to a bank that isn't the normal banks for me I go in and ask for a box of halves the didn't carry boxs so I asked for what they had 6 rolls she sets them on counter and to my excitement the papers where from a bank that was no longer in business and had been out of business for many years also I could see written on 1 roll said keep I could hardly hold myself to the ground I thought I had just struck the best find ever I get the car and I had to rip open the roll that said keep.... Every last roll was full of...... 1976 halves... Bummer...

Yeah sometimes roll hunters play tricks on each other, like writing silver, or 1964, 65-70, etc...gets the hopes up and then letdown. All one can do is get right back in the game.

Maybe some people just like bicentennials and it wasn't a trick, so they intended to keep them and either passed them down or they got passed down when they passed away?

That's a pretty good prank, writing 1916-D on a dime roll. I think I will write 1909-S VDB on my next roll of cents I take to the bank.
