Good lens.. I assume you are mounting it using the LEA-4 adapter( its the better match to that lens although you do loose about half a stop of light due to the beamsplitter in the adapter).

austrokiwi thanks for the info on that adapter. I will purchase one. austrokiwi its takes nothing to light this coin with this lens. the natural light in the room is all that is needed. I am waiting for an adapter to the canon camera. I want to see how this lens will preform on the canon. it is no doubt a great lens. the focus is very smooth. it only takes a slight movement on the focus ring. to take it is out of focus. nice lens like it

From what you have said I don't think you should buy the LAE4 adapter

I assumed that you had the Minolta/Sony Alpha mount version of that lens. I have been looking for one for a long time one is for sale on ebay but at the price being asked no one is buying)I now assume you have another mount version

I would be interested to see how this lens performs with a Canon. What adapter is needed for the Canon (t1i)? Please supply pics.

hello ham yes I will take pictures to show you the setup. see the lens is quit big. the aperture is starts at F2.5. so the lens lets in a lot of light. I had to step the light down on the sony 1/3 stop. I also darken in DPP so to light coins . you don't need any. but I do understand why we light. that way we can control the light. as soon as the adapter gets here. I will take soon photo with the canon T1I. Ham this lens is incredible.

this is a great lens. you have to move the focus so slowly. I wanted to see if I could get the focus. a little more precise. here is a couple more images. I am just working with the light in the room.

thank you guys. I am going to try to build a ring light similar to austrokiwi light. I find with this lens you dont need a lot of light. it is quit the lens for sure. this is where one sees what APO glass is all about no doubt. have a great one. as soon as the canon adapter gets here. I will mount. the lens on the canon camera. take some photos and post them

i have been trying to get these lights. that I purchased from Germany to set right. I am getting a hotpot on one side. I have tried to use google translator. when I read the directions it just does not sound right. when I get the translation. I use to work with a pilot from Germany. I will have to get him. to tell me what these direction mean. here is a couple images. first one single light. the second one 2 lights. the 2006 eagle 2 lights. maybe have to try some more diffusion.

ok got the lights a little closer. to where they need to be set. I will pick up a couple of pieces tomorrow. that should complete the lights. so that there are no hot spots.
