coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/27/2016 12:02 pm That was part of the normal design. An extra pillar on the two outside bays and the two you are showing. On the die that struck your coin it looks like it was over polished a lot and removed most the extra pillars and almost the statue. This happens after a lot of clashes and clash removals are performed. Report this Post to the Staff

Note on my gray colored image and also on your coin, there are areas where there is weakness on the simulated columns. That is from heavy die polishing removing part of the fields, (bays are part of the fields) affected the mid devices (simulated columns) to remove die clashes. A lot of detail can be lost each time a die is polished down. So die clashes must happen a lot during the life span of 1,400,000 average coins struck per die on business strike coins.
