So there is a coin on the bay that I want as a pocket piece and I asked the seller and they said it was heat toned.
I don't really understand what they mean.
Anyone heard of this before?

Yes. The coin is put on a heat source (such as a stove, etc.) which (artificially)accelerates the natural chemical reaction between the coin and the surrounding atmosphere.

With copper it produces some striking effects.
