Looking at the reverse of this 2002D.
Is this a MD (double strike?) or a shift during the strike that cause the deformation of some of the characters (such as bottoms of ED in united).

Note the area in question is on the inside edge of the devices. So it is MD Deforming these devices. The devices near the rim are a bit rounded, but not starting die flow yet. So it is not a die issue, but a striking issue.
