The third and mostly forgotten CONECA RPM for 1938-S is really hard to see in the best of circumstances. RPM-003 is just a slight shift west, but this coin I plucked out of a group of cents I bought for a different cherrypick and rounds out my CONECA set for this year.

Well, technically not a cherrypick, but to borrow a word from the commercial fishing industry it was bycatch. Just one of those extra coins you end up with when you cherrypick something that is in a set of coins. I always check those as well and this one turned up.

It is a repunched mint mark (RPM) listed by CONECA as RPM-003, which is just sorta visible as a secondary S a tiny bit left of the primary S. That little curved groove along the upper curve of the S is where you can see it best. Not exactly breathtaking, eh? But it's a listed RPM so...

Oh yeah, and the last image is of a set of die gouges on the lower left of the reverse. These are the die marker for this variety that verifies what it is.
