Is this a rare coin, or a common one? How to tell a satin struck using proof die meant for a business strike in 1921? BH1964 Bedrock of the Community United States 10982 Posts	Posted 03/14/2019 7:18 pm I would grade it AU53 or maybe 55. The luster is not there and the obverse strike is weak even by 1921 Peace standards. It is free of major blemishes or distractions and appears to have a nice patina on it. The 1921 Peace dollar is a relatively common coin with over 1,000,000 stuck. Matte proof and sandblast (satin) strikes are basically unheard of with a handful known in the world. We can say with 99.999% certainty that this is a regular strike. ANA #R3154474 Report this Post to the Staff
