Old Coin From India? - Coin Community Forum

pml New Member Portugal 2 Posts	Posted 01/28/2020 3:43 pm Hi, I recently bought this coin in Tibet. However, I'm pretty sure it is not a Tibetan coin (at least it doesn't look like anything I could see about Tibet). My next guess would be a coin from India, but I also could not find anything even close to this design in old Indian coins. I even checked Nepalese coins, which vaguely resemble this one, but none exactly like this... Finally, I tried Thailand, as the characters on one side seemed like Thai, but no luck either. The second photo appears to have a date at bottom, which may be 1815 in the Nepalese calendar (maybe someone else with more expertise in these coins will come along with a better guess). I wouldn't have get even close to this, as this a kingdom which is all new to me (although I already visited Nepal and learned about some of the old kingdoms there). Regards.
