Spence Moderator United States 34476 Posts	Posted 09/19/2022 06:25 am @mgh, while not impossible, it is much more common for die cracks to proceed from the corners of the Lincoln Memorial out to the rim on this design. It looks to me like the rim has a little circulation damage on this coin. The highest devices are always the first to be damaged on a coin. The rims are there to protect the design on the coins devices from coin wear.
