The small island government of Nieu has had the rights to Star Wars characters for silver/gold. Now Britain Royal Mint has it, either in addition to Nieu or the Nieu contract is ending. Maybe both will sell to Star Wars fans.
Some like to collect silver/gold with comic book characters, movie/tv show characters, etc.
In the Lucas era, I probably would have pre-ordered the whole set. Now, meh. I just wasn't able to keep up with the tsunami of Disney spin-offs, follow-ups, retcons, prequels, sequels, video games.
Good to know about this. The Royal Mint is now in my crappy mints set. Together with the Paris mint and a series of others that copied the french.
These people doing this will destroy modern coin collecting. They're producing medals, not coins. We all know that interest for modern medals is very low due to excessive numbers and the banality of the commemorated events.
