Unless no one noticed the letter on the 1942 I found an image of one.

Has this been mentioned before or is it a new find, and other question is are they on all proof coins and some circulated coins or only a few.

That's an "I" for India. It was minted in Bombay.

https://www.triton.vg/halfpennies.html says four different 1942 halfpennies, two types of which have the I under the King's head. Not sure of mintages of each off the top of my head.

Numista has a detailed listing for this one, looks like Perth used a • and Melbourne was without a mark. Each offered proofs.
