I have a 1989 ASE and I am wanting to have it graded at PCGS. What would be the best course of action? I do not think I should send the coin in its current slab because I can see PCGS try to put their nose up due to it being an ANACS MS70. What would you guys suggest?
In my opinion leave it alone, not worth the expense of having it regraded. I don't think sending it in the slab or taken out is going to make a lot of difference, it may come back MS69 or MS70 either way. You could check sold prices on ebay or Great Collections and see if there's much difference between a 1989 ANACS MS70 or PCGS MS70 sale. To see past Great Collection auction prices you can join for free.
I'm not sure what the "Midwest Hoard" was, but someone may like that designation. That's sure to be lost if it gets regraded at another grading house. I'm not sure if the value of a MS70 1989 bullion is that high. Research the Midwest Hoard.
