Hi all .. taking pictures of some French stuff today and found this little jem it seems to be a re-punched 9 in the date in a north west direction .. is it recorded anywhere and do the french collectors go for that kind of stuff
There is probably a small contingent of collectors (I guess mainly in France) that would study the varieties of these. However, they would not be anywhere as numerous as the army of Lincoln Wheat cent entusuiasts, or those amongst British Penny variety collectors.
This variety may well be recorded, but I guess that you would need to go to a French numismatic site, something like the CCF, to find out.
These coins are often found in nice condition, and as a variety, this one is well worth keeping.
cheers for the great information .. unforchanatly with my Shield nickel addiction and the sear quantity of coins I have I am having to thin out .. and this one is earmarked
