France - 1792 2 Sols With Odd Edge - Coin Community Forum

Pertinax Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2135 Posts	Posted 08/05/2012 10:31 am Here's a 1792 2 Sols with an odd edge, and different inscription. It's very similar to KM 603.1, but there's an N after the date, as if it were from Montpellier mint. The rim is bashed, uneven, and holed (one is 2mm deep). Is this an unpublished date and mint, or a contemporary forgery - would it have been worth forging such coins ? The weight is 16.91 g. The size is identical to the KM image. algol Valued Member United States 124 Posts	Posted 08/05/2012 5:39 pm Its KM 603.12. These are often found with planchet problems and damage etc.. No reason to thinks its a fake. Great piece of French History. I love these big clunky bronze/copper coins! Report this Post to the Staff

Condition? poor. Don't despair. Even in this condition, this type is still a collectible coin. Most other coins in this condition would just be scrap. Report this Post to the Staff
