Here's another one. This one is MS, I am trying to understand how the hits work. Up front, it is problem free and in a small ANACS holder.   |

I agree with MS63 with an outside shot at MS64 in an old ANACS holder.

Either my photos suck, or ANACS was having a bad day when they did these two (there is another one on the forums). I jacked around with the lights, reset my white balance and opened it up to F-5 to get the one below. But I like the first one better. Shot at F-11 I had my setup working better than this a while back, not sure what has gone awry. Grade below.   |

I don't see an MS-64 in that holder. Label says so but that's why they always say buy the coin and not the holder.

Yep, That's what I meant by outside shot at MS64. I've seen more than one old ANACS holder that I felt was one grade high. I still agree it's an MS63 coin.

ANACS is now very strict, possibly too strict, but coins in older holders can be overgraded. I feel this coin is a solid MS-63 but no real shot at MS-64 from NGC or PCGS

Ya I still say MS-63 too, boy does it have beautiful toning though! I just think it has too many marks on the face to have a chance at a 64 if cross graded.

I agree with MS63. The rule of thumb is...if it is a TYPICAL Morgan then it is probably a 63.
If it were me I would sell on the bay as a 64...which it demonstrably is...and use the money for a raw coin in better shape. As they say, lots of people buy the label not the coin.

LIBERTY Is kind of faded at the end to the front. I would say Low MS.
