This is why banks are starting to charge fees for large coin withdrawals/deposits.

I work at a credit union and am at the front desk. I help members with transactions but don't typically handle cash. One of the neat things is our coin machine. Just yesterday I had to swap a bag of $100 (2,000) nickels out, before I sealed it up I saw an old looking nickel. Sure enough it was a War Nickel. The tellers know I collect so they are ok when I just swap out. Good way to find old coins. One perk is that the machine will reject steel pennies and those are held inside. A few weeks ago I swapped out 2 pocket change dimes for 20 steelies. Felt really lucky seeing as a few were in fantastic shape.

As far as halves/dollars. We have a huge bag of each in our vault that I occassionally sift through. We don't get Ike's that often but have probably $150 in halves. Tellers search for silver halves/dollars so that's a rare find. Found a silver coin from Dominican Rep. in the rejects for coin counter. We don't see much silver in the forms of big coins.
