For lack of a better story I have one: This is half of a forgery attempt! Two copper alloy pennies were ground flat and soldered together to make a mule, such as a
LWC from the wrong year. This one was for practice or didn't work out, so the forger crudely separated the two halves with a small chisel to destroy the evidence. What's left are a chisel mark, rim damage, residual solder, and perhaps some heat toning. Find the matching
LWC and the story's verified!
