On a previous thread I lamented the problems of my chinese digital microscope's ability and photo quality. I still lament the magnification, and field size. The magnification which can go from about 25 -100 depending on the focus distance is such that only the smallest of coins can be shown whole. But it is great for the "details" I so enjoy. The last problem I solved by dumping the software provided which I could only use *deleted* words to describe and went to Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 which allowed direct import of my digital microscope and allowed the marvelous control of the image. here is a current example. So if the image looks very bad and "blooms" ( whites out) see if your paint or photoshop type of program allows direct import. I really endorse the corel product. My digital microscope is like this one
