I had just received this coin from one of my sources in Iceland a few days ago. Since not to many of you have ever seen a proof coin from Iceland from 1963 back to 1940 when the first one was minted. Only a handful of these coins wore ever minted. I thought it maybe of some interest to some of the members here at CCF who collect Icelandic coins. The pictures don't show the brassy luster of this coin since I don't totally know how to use this camera.

the shield looks especially nice in proof. Just how many proofs were minted?

From 1963 on back to 1940 no mintage records wore ever kept and from my understanding of all I have read or was told not many at all. this is a guess of maybe a 100 or less I only know that I have only came across about 11 or so some on auction records dating back to 1993 and that also includes the 3 I have in my collection.

I've always liked the design of this coin. I find the proof version particularly striking.

I Wish I can find a 2 Kronur with cameo to it. I am not holding my breath. It would be a stunning coin.
