dbrablec Pillar of the Community United States 1944 Posts	Posted 01/16/2009 3:52 pm i do not have a lot of experience with this coin. the question concerns the letter "M" stamped in the coin to the right of the bottom star (to the right of Ms. Liberty). is this a normal part of this coin or is it post mint - defacing. also grade opinions are appreciated. in my UNtrained opinion I give it G8. thanks. echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 01/16/2009 4:01 pm The coin was designed by Hermon A. MacNeil. The M that you are talking about is his Initial.
