1969-S Lincoln Memorial Cent: My First Double Die

newlie New Member United States 30 Posts	Posted 01/27/2009 8:29 pm I started collecting Lincoln cents about a year ago. I bought a small lot the other day and in the midst of looking through them...a 69S double die. Or at least I think so. I am thrilled! Report this Post to the Staff

tepritts Valued Member United States 306 Posts	Posted 01/27/2009 9:10 pm Nice looking coin. If you look carefully at the doubling appears very flat and shelf-like which indicates Machine Doubling. I look for the same type of effect on the same side in both the mintmark and date. Your coin shows that same effect in both areas. Just my opinion as photos are very difficult to ID at times. I've been fooled several times thinking RPM then it's just Machine Doubling. Terrell Report this Post to the Staff

Secondly, did some research....guess if it were a true 1969 S DDO, I would be sitting pretty. Never been that lucky. I am still proud I spotted that damage though. Report this Post to the Staff
