PMD. Looks like maybe it was on a sidewalk, and someone stepped on it. John1

PMD. I'd file it under "got caught in machinery".
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

It may have been used as a shim. I've used coins to help align a motor or other shop equipment that doesn't fit quite right. Once it's removed, it can show this kind of flattening and erosion at the edge.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

@Yoko We have a machine shop and brother used a Lincoln Shield as a shim. Once I kind of got into this last year he jokingly gave it to me and said "What kind of error is this?" I threw it in the trash! Hahha. Wasn't even putting it back into circulation because I knew it would just screw someone up (like me) if they ever found it in change. :)

We see so many damaged coins here, each one is an individual in its own right. But damage is still just damage, no matter how it was inflicted on a coin.

You are right @Dear. In the last year I've learned Dryer Coins, zinc rot, parking lot coins, acid coins, buried coins, coin wrappers ' Ring of Death' et al. Plus having cool names like "Parking Lot Coin" sounds cooler than just saying PMD.
