Need Help Id'in 1859 - Is It 52A - J11B?

joewobblie Valued Member United States 238 Posts	Posted 04/30/2023 10:42 am OK - I am new at this (both ID'ing 59s and using a macro lens on my phone) so don't go too hard on me lol I think this is 52a - J11b but obviously since I am asking opinions I am not sure. I start with the die crack to the right of the first A in GRATIA. Next, the G of GRATIA and the CA of CANADA have doubling. So it looks like 52a for the Obv. On the Rev I struggle. The condition of the coin is poor. I see no die cracks. The Vine at leaf 2 looks repaired, leaf 7 could be medium or is it a wide gap?, and leaf 9 I can't figure at all. 52a is paired with 3 Rev's. I am thinking it isn't J11 because the die cracks are not there and the 5 doesn't have that dramatic doubling. Could be J11a but the coin is so corroded at leaf 7 I can't confirm or exclude a die crack. That leaves J11b as my most likely candidate. PC59-183 Looking forward to your comments! okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5603 Posts	Posted 04/30/2023 11:16 am You'd be better off looking for coins with the "C" doubled/tripled, as well as the G. I don't use the Haxby site, except to look at specific questions that folks have. I could be out in left field, but I always have better luck looking at specific well-offset doublings. Phil310 Pillar of the Community United States 1101 Posts	Posted 05/01/2023 11:08 am I think you've got that one attributed correctly as PC59-183 (Obverse 52a + Reverse J11b) That die pair is quite scarce and most of the ones I know of are low grade.
