Does Anyone Ever Get Burnt Out On Collecting?

In my case I was on a six year hiatus due to health issues. Now I'm on fire again.

i haven't lost interest; I'm just broke all the time. i'd love to be able to get to the point of feeling 'burned out'.

in the case of my ASE collection, I wasn't 'burned out' as much as the mint just killed it for me. I'm still very keen on finishing my LWC folder, type album and morgan folders. I'm just perpetually in the poorhouse. hard to devote anything-- money, energy, brainpower-- to the hobby when constantly, endlessly stuck in survival mode. having a human parasite attached to my life also is not helpful.

I am 42 years old. I started collecting world coins at the age of 10. Right away, as a child, I completely "headlong" plunged into numismatics. I thought about it every day, examined my handful of inexpensive first coins.

At 18, I entered university and COMPLETELY forgot about the hobby for 5 years. Then one day I needed to learn how to create websites and I decided to make it based on my small collection. After launching the site, the hobby came to life: I wanted to expand the site every day, adding more and more new coins. The collection of 100 pieces grew to over 2,000 different world coins in a few years (I tried to collect at least 1 coin from all countries of the world). It seemed that now there was no stopping me.

But the war in Ukraine 2022 made its adjustments. Another pause. But I couldn't do it for so long — without my favorite hobby. I returned to collecting, this time focusing on coins of different denominations. I decided to collect as many coins with different names (denominations) as possible. I used my already proven life hack — I launched a website again, this time in English, to expand communication with like-minded people.

Now I'm 42... I can't imagine my life without my hobby.

Thanks jbuck. Only 1 was lost locally. The 2021 peace was out for delivery on a day I had a temp mailman. He knocked on my door and said "you were supposed to have a package today, sorry it was small and I lost it." I still wonder if he stole it. The others were lost prior to ever making it into my state. I've been reading about a lot of theft in of trading cards so it's likely the same deal with coins. Some sellers aren't too smart and have "coin" in their shipping address name. Not saying that's the case for mine but that would certainly increase the chance of theft.
