i wish... I have no doubt that it would seem that way to anyone else, but I should have hit this milestone months ago. this week has been the weakest week of the month. I haven't had a $1+ night in 8 nights. the first 3 years of this project were 'raining coins'-- 2018, 19 & 20. when covid happened there was a noticeable pullback in the following months and into 2022, but sometime after covid it began 'raining coins' again, but it didn't last long. by spring 2024 it stopped 'raining' them; it's just 'sprinkling' them now. and the 'sprinkles' are getting lighter and lighter. I used to have $1+ nights (just coins) on 20 nights (or more) every month. now I get 5-10 nights of $1+ per month. and there used to be an 'abundance' of cash every year. so far this year I have picked just four $1 notes and two $5 notes, the two fives were found fairly recently, last month, about a week apart. I used to pick at least two or three ones every month, with other denominations scattered throughout the year. it used to be much more common. it is slowly drying up. once I complete this cycle and reach the $5K mark it may be time to wrap up this project, especially if I get the job that I interviewed for this past monday. I'm still waiting to hear about that. I was told i'd hear from them by today, but no word yet.

it's been great while it's lasted, but I have other things I need to pursue. it's provided me with a nice little stack of metals I wouldn't otherwise have and I am grateful, but other things are calling. i'd like to get to them and leave this years-long experiment as a success.

Well I for one will miss your daily reports..

...and besides that, if I land that job I will have restored an actual income that'll allow me to get back to my collecting. I have some things I need to accomplish. I'm not getting any closer to those set completions without a full-time job. I'm going to make those things a priority once the job is nailed down.

finding money is great, and I think I've done something that no one else on this island has done with it, which makes the endeavor unique. I'm happy with that and somewhat proud of the accomplishment (without letting it go to my head). because of the reduced finds I would at this point sacrifice it for a full-time paying job... but I will not stop feeding the kitties each night. it's one of the very few things here that I get any happiness from. the loss of my other paying gig 5 years ago (which had been in slow decline since hurricane irma in late summer 2017) ruined my plan then (the plan was to adopt as many street cats as my income & budget back then would allow), and I would like to re-establish that plan, but first re-establish the income to support it.

i have done my best to bide my time while I rebuild my life from next to nothing after the crash of august 2021. despite not having a full-time income I managed to scavenge together a nice pile of metals on the strength of the financial irresponsibility of others-- 'capital leverage', by other means-- but I'm in need of something the street piracy doesn't offer: security. I'm too old to be wondering how I'm going to do or accomplish one thing or another. it's time for some stability before my body finally yells 'uncle'; my back is going to tolerate only so much more. that change needs to happen soon.

i would not be leaving ccf, though, just shuffling over to the other forums to share my latest acquisitions. I have a LWC collection that's unfinished and an ASE collection that's unfinished and a pair of morgan albums that hardly have anything in them and a 7070 that's unfinished. I want to get back to those things.

it was, and it's still going, just not quite as lucrative as it was when I got going on it.

i think the universe heard my lament, or, more accurately, felt it, or, even more accurately, for a brief time my frequency aligned with the necessary frequency to make it a worthwhile endeavor tonight... however it worked, it worked, since I picked $1.73 in well-scattered change. it was a very nice haul tonight, the sixth time this month of $1+. joy.

little bit by little bit I edge closer to $5K. ugh, this is really dragging along, though. tom petty was right: the waiting is the hardest part.
