1951 Big Nickel Double Legend - Coin Community Forum

Whether it be master die doubling or struck with the second strike not lined up correctly I am uncertain. For those who want to look for the DDO it was produced at the Lombardo Mint (mint mark on obverse) and Canadian Artistic Dies (mintmark on the reverse). It is 22.55g, 39 millimeters in diameter and is "Nickel silver". All of the legend is doubled but the REX is minor. The Kings bust is not doubled. Report this Post to the Staff

Using these details I managed to pluck a nice example of this doubled die from ebay. While I was shopping around I reviewed dozens of photos and there were a lot struck with no signs of doubled obverse letters, took a bit to find one but I'm a happy camper now. Thank you Enyaw!
