Quote:The third roll was a winner. It contained ten 40% silver Kennedy half dollars (with five of them lining up next to each other at one end of the roll)! This is the first time in almost three years that visiting this branch has paid off. You gotta be patient and keep on trying... Outstanding!

@ NorthShoreMA: Have you seen any 9-11 privy marked halves? Apparently the Boston area is receiving large numbers of them, mixed in to new 2026 boxes.
It might be worth trying to get a box of new halves from somewhere, or just keeping an eye out for them.

It might be worth trying to get a box of new halves from somewhere, or just keeping an eye out for them. I didn't know about the new privy half dollars until I saw your post (after I already cashed the Brinks box full of 2026 half dollars at my dump bank). But I found a few dozen more 2026 half dollars in a different box -- and eight of those half dollars were eight privy coins. I didn't think much of them until I examined these half dollars more carefully when I arrived home. All eight coins have the W mint mark and the "Always Remember" motto. Just my dumb luck, I suppose.

Nice. Hopefully those get to other parts of the country eventually. I've gone through a couple boxes of 2026s, no privys yet.

Fantastic find! But I thought that the privy was on the quarter is it both or just the half?

The July 4th privy is on the quarter. The 9-11 privy is on the half.

Today I acquired six rolls of 2026 half dollars at a credit union. Two rolls each contained four privy coins with a W mint mark, and I found another coin in a different roll. All of the other half dollars were minted in Philadelphia, and none of them had a privy. I'm puzzled why the Federal Reserve Bank distributed so many of these coins in the Bay State. Now I have 17 of them. I will trade one of these uncirculated coins for: (1) a 90% silver half dollar of your choice; or (2) three 40% silver Kennedy half dollars (if I am allowed to do that on this forum).
