Yes, many people do that but do not bring common widgets expecting that a dealer would be interested in purchasing for a good price. The best kind of trade with a dealer at a show is something that he will not need to leave with, i.e. sell at the same show or perhaps the next.

It will depend on the venue in my opinion. I carried boxes of 2009 cents to three shows before I could find a buyer. Funny thing about the whole ordeal was that at the first two shows there were no Lincoln cents to be had, yet know one wanted them even though collector demand was sort of high at the time. The show that I did sell them at had five dealers selling them and they were short in what supply they did have.
