The coin itself is in great shape, but there are a couple of things with which I need some help. OBV & REV Pieces are missing from Monticello and the letter 'E' Perhaps this MM is the result of a 'die shift?' Report this Post to the Staff

FlipOfACoin Valued Member 474 Posts	Posted 01/29/2012 9:15 pm Normally, I would agree with you. However, this coin came out of a sealed, mint cello. See the two vertical lines to the left of the 'E'? They almost look like a ghost image. Additionally, there is a faint, horizontal line running from the corner of Monticello to the bottom of the 'E'. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 01/31/2012 8:08 pm I was trying to show what the devices in the area left of the EPU could be. They don't match. Looks like the grease if causing the funny colored areas. The mark left of the E must be a very light contact mark or more grease? The other two arrow appear as contact marks. Contact marks happen in mint sets as they are just put into the holder and the proof sets are handled differently to advoind contact. They still can have marks on the proof coins as well and they usually get sent back as inferior sets. Report this Post to the Staff
