Southern92 - the subscription discount is new this year.
I got notice that they have reserved the next issue - due to ship in 4 weeks as well.

Quote: I think that had to do with the subscription discount. Exactly....saving around $15 per coin is a better perk than a bag...I now have 10 bags with 2 more on the way

@ Foxwoods - you are going have to change your name from Foxwoods Man to "Bag" Man :)

I wonder if this near-sellout is because some of the heavy hitters decided to take advantage of the discount? Assuming there is no limit to how many one could order via subscription.

Subsriptions (discounts) and the price of silver is the cause for this soon to be early sell out.

Regarding the P pucks:
Silver content is less than but pretty close to $100/coin so that would be a $54 or $39 premium to spot. That shouldn't draw too many in...$8-10/ounce
It should be a factor for the bullion pucks though....

@Foxwoods - so do you think if the price of silver was higher and we were still paying $275 per "P" puck that wouldn't make a difference?

For my 2 cents on the price. I did not buy at 279.95. It was well over spot in my opinion at the time and twice the cost now. I did buy the Gettysburg when they were first decreased to 229.95 and of course ever since. This price, although over spot, is a good price in my mind. An item of value to collect plus intrinsic value. I do use as gifts as well.

At $139.45 with subscription (+ $4.95 shipping), it is an easy sell. I'll continue to buy the issues at that price!
I was one of the suckers that bought the $280 pucks, but as I don't ever plan to sell these, especially not for the metal content, I'm not concerned. But I AM glad the retail price fell back (somewhat) to Earth... a lot easier on the wallet.
Received my GSM puck today and it's a beauty with no visible flaws. Not my favorite design of the series but still very nice all the same and happy to slide it into the safe along with its mates.

Quote: paying $275 per "P" puck ..and those first year pucks all also sold out. It just took longer (and the one per household didn't help initial sales either). What I took as the point of the discussion was that the initial sales are higher with the 2014 P puck compared to the previous year's similarly priced coin. Silver is basically the same price as most of last year and the Mint cost is the same. The only difference is the subscription discount. I don't think it appropriate to compare sales of a $279 coin with the same coin priced at $139...it wouldn't shock me at all to see a quicker sell out of the latter

I agree the subscriptions are the major reason for an upcoming early sell out but I also think the current low price of silver is also a factor, maybe not as substantial, but still a factor for whatever reason. I think if silver continues around 20 for the year we will continue to see quick sell outs of the "P" pucks. I also think more people are starting to discover the series as well, maybe the Mount RM puck had something to do with that.

...and we will see if the Mint decides to increase the mintage numbers for future issues
A sellout at 25k will be the highest number sold of the last 15 P pucks.

I hope they don't increase the mintage numbers.....you are probably going to be right though. As soon as a good thing starts the mint seems to find a way to ruin things....sad. I didn't realize there had been that many pucks since the last time. Maybe some day this series will take off and we will all be glad we got in at the early stages of the game.

This yr. may be a test to see how well the discount works. That along with the $20 silver price should keep these in the sell out area quickly. Less for them to worry about in stock. Also, they knew the number of subscriptions for this one ahead of time so they can produce more closely to demand.
