I think the mint should Mint to demand all commemorative and NIFC issues. They'd naturally get a few rarities on the secondary market, and that would be enough to get people to keep buying them, and would make it harder to just speculate and flip certain issues.
Historical rarities were not made on purpose, they just happened. With the exception or some proof and re-strike shenanigans.

I received my Chaco Culture bullion puck yesterday from Provident. I didn't care much for this design at first, but after seeing it in hand in the bullion finish I really like the way this coin looks. I like it better than the vapor blast "P" puck version. I wish they could do a regular proof version of these coins. The only problem would be having to buy one more puck every month.

Just FYI, the 2012 Acadia 5 oz Silver ATB is now available for pre-order over at Provident Metals. Their first shipment of Acadia ATBs is set to arrive on or before Friday August 10th, 2012.

The design on Acadia is not one I had been planning on, but I think I could easily let myself be talked into it...as was the case with Chickasaw. The mass element nature of the rock device, the conifer trees, the classic lighthouse metaphor...aw heck, now to decide on bullion or "P" again. At one time I had in hand both versions of Olympic...if you haven't seen vapor blast in hand, it is a treat. It is worlds apart from the cheap frosty look you'd see on, for instance, Washington on the obverse of current release proof silver. So all that is to say, if you want some bullion, my goodness why not make it some ATB goodness at $30/oz. I "almost" just talked myself into getting that Acadia...considering the current spread from the "P." Let's hope the mint re-prices the "P" versions...since the proof ASEs $$ just dropped, it makes sense. $25 less and they may see much-needed renewed interest.

Agreed Clint. They either need to reprice it or just say that no matter what silver does 205 is the lowest they will ever sell for and just set the market at that price. By doing neither everyone just feels the P is a ripoff right now and the vapor blast on them is outstanding in hand

Since I haven't seen a bullion puck out of a TPG slab, I've been wondering...do the background fields on all of these appear "unfinished," thus prompting the decision to offer a collector version (in addition to concern with handling / fingerprints)? The two I've seen (one was DMPL) both appeared to have very light die striated lines throughout the sky, and behind Washington...and notably also across the smooth broad swath of Washington's head. Different from Canadian bullion (maples and wildlife both), in which the vertical lines are pronounced and consistent, the ATB striations / lines appear to me to be created by the dies not being completely polished or something...? I'm fairly certain this was NOT an effect of the plastic slabs...

Clint, I posted this picture of a bullion "Chaco Culture" a couple of pages back: The ones I've purchased have been extremely shiny and I haven't noticed any striations. I hope this helps!

Yeah, I don't see anything like what I saw in your picture. Perhaps it truly was the reflection of the imperfection in the plastic, reflected back...um...a MILLION-FOLD due to the gigantic palette upon which these beauties are presented. But I can't say for certain, since I sold both [bullion coins I had] and decided to stick with the "P" versions. Hats off to folks who collect both versions!

Is anyone planning on picking up the new Acadia bullion puck? Any comments on the design? I think I'm going to pick one up this week from Provident.

Definitely could be that. Could be timing too. With how everything was crammed together, especially the silver products people were probably already stretched thin when chaco came out

I am one behind at the moment. Our youngest daughter had some unexpected automobile expenses that dad had to cover....so.....no fun tickets in the coin account.
