It's been quite a while since I have found anything, but this last weekend at the MSNS show I couldn't resist this, especially at the price. This is a MI525C-3b, R-9

Thanks guys. I'm thinking that this token as an R9 may have it's Rarity rating changed with the Third Edition of the Fuld token book being worked on right now. I say that because the Fuld R9 rating means that 2-4 are estimated to exist, and I own two of them.

1863 Christoph Karls, 42nd Ave A New York, Token, F630AM,1a I think this is rated R-2 in Bowers new Civil War Token Book with a mintage of 2,000 - 5,000; Obverse: Seated Goddess (Gernania?) facing left mountains and body of water in the background; Rx: CHRISTOPH KARL, 42 AVENUE A...located in the East Village and now a pizza eatery. Here is my 3rd party source that has some other really great info: http://www.collectors-society.com/J...ntryID=14714

Nice. Bill, I agree that it should be re-rated. I've seen many of the Jackson tokens for it to actually be an R9. One of my friends has one, too, so that makes 3 out of the 4 for an R9. Wonder where the LAST one is?

The most egregious over rating is the MI525C-3a. That will be changed from an R9 to a R3 in the new book. There are several on ebay right now, and I have owned several as well. So R3 strikes me as fair. This brass MI525C-3b should be changing as well, but haven't received any advance word on it.

Thanks Dave. I had thoughts of flying down to FUN this year but economics decided it wasn't the best idea. LOL.

Bill, you're most welcome. I sure hope I find something I can't live w/out. It seems harder & harder to find anything worthwhile on E-Bay at a REASONABLE price... Seems like the selling prices have really gone up the past two yrs

So true Dave. With the major token collections hitting the market and most being slabbed the prices have jumped significantly.

Here is my newest Michigan store card for the Michigan Towns/City collection. As it typical with Alexander Gleason tokens the lettering is somewhat uneven due to all letters not being punched with equal force and letter alignment is off a bit. Still, it's an Rarity 6 from a 7+ rated town.
