A little birdie has told me to standby for some killer store cards coming out of FUN. Right Dave?

Here you go, Bill. Sorry, but the pictures REALLY don't do justice to the beautiful toning on the top two tokens. They truly are eye catching in-hand.

Wow, beautiful selections Dave. The dies couldn't have lasted much longer on the Benjamin & Herrick. Is that the NY10A-8b variety?

Here's one I have been looking to find for a long while. Found it at the very last dealer I talked to at the FUN show... I was truly surprised to find it, and was very glad I didn't have to spend an arm & leg to get it... It has proof-like surfaces and is 95% bright brass...

Now I only need the 1860 white medal and copper varieties to complete the ML Marshall series... So the quest continues

Has anybody else bought the new Whitman CWT token book written by David Bowers? I picked up a copy at the show last week. It is an awesome book. VERY informative w/ all colored pictures.

Not strictly a Civil War issue, but I thought this store card was pretty nice, so I picked it up at the FUN show down in Orlando last week. I've been look for a nice example of the "horse" design, and this one is quite lovely in hand. The detail on the Washington side is just stunning.

@ Dave H -- I didn't know you were going to be at FUN, else we could have met up and scoped out the bourse together. Regarding the Bowers new Whitman book, it is a splendid piece of work. The color and high quality images alone are worth 3-4x the price of the book. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of history in the opening as well. I give it two thumbs up, especially given it's price point. Some of the other books are a bit spendy for people not addicted like we are.

Wow Dave, that Marshall's is amazing. A find like that can make a coin show trip all by itself. Congrats.

brg5658... That is an awesome token. Absolutely stunning . I live about an hour south of Orlando, so I'll be there next year, too. If you'll be able to go, we can meet up and peruse the bourse if you want. The guys I go with always go on Thursday to get first crack at the bourse (that is after the dealers and early-birds)

I'll be going to the summer FUN show this year, too, but the CWT pickins are much slimmer at that show...

w/ you about the book. It's chuck full of the token makers historical backgrounds, including those w/ the best collections... and the pictures are great. The updated pricing is nice, and I like the way the token descriptions have the reverse die pairings... nice feature. For $22.00, it's WELL worth the money

@ Bill...
I would grade it at least MS-64. It is absolutely an awesome find... which I almost didn't. The guys I was with decided to meet mid afternoon to see how everyone was doing. Everyone else was ready to go, but I still had some $$$ left and asked them for one more hour. Thankfully they agreed. I decided to go to an area that I hadn't gone to that day, and found that seller. He didn't have many CWTs, but he did have the ML Marshall, and it was the very last token in the box I was looking through. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming or something

I did a quick E-Bay search after I got home and found this one...http://www.ebay.com/itm/1860-Marsha...m53fff3ab9e. Bulls-eye!

That ebay token seller is Pat Flannery, he is tartanscott. He works with Ernie Latter a good bit on inventory. He is a top notch token dealer in his own right.

Yep, Pat and Ernie shared a booth at FUN. Way back in the right hand corner when you came in the doors, table 1650. I purchased my Lovett token posted above from Ernie Latter. Ernie's store name on ebay is cwtguy, usually has a good deal of nice material for sale on there.
