Medowview, That link is very interesting. CCF I have a lot of learning to do when it comes to CWT and Store Cards. I purchased a coin collection several months ago and the collection has this book of 38 mixed CWT and Store Cards. I just finished photographing all of them today. I had no Idea these existed until I picked up this collection and now I am hooked. I was thinking about sending my collection to be graded there are a few that have some real nice detail and may grade AU58 or higher. Are CWT and Store Cards worth the investment to grade? I need to take some time and research these CWTs. Thanks everyone for the Info. I will be posting some more photos.

Fuzzy, What book are you using? I have the 1960 Fuld which came with the collection and I purchased The ORB Guide United States Tokens and Medals #11 I am a bit disappointed in that book it is very limited on what it lists on CWT and Store cards. Is there a more complete book I could purchase. I have seen a few out there which is the most complete? Thanks CCF for any input. Here is one pic, I like the double E on this one. I think one side is FULD-71 don't know what the other side is.

You have a store card from the merchant A. Ricke of Cincinnati, Ohio. Using the book U.S. Civil War Store Cards, Second Edition by George and Melvin Fuld, I attempted to ID the Indian Head reverse. Due due to the Plain headband I used Die-A-Gram S-3D for Liberty Headbands. Being a small cent size, with 6 pointed stars, and the last star is between the 8th and 9th feather, and closer to the 8th feather, and the 8 in the date is a touch low, and the ribbon is over the left edge of the 6, I believe the Reverse is die number 1038. Which translated into the Fuld number of OH165EV-13a, a Rarity 7 token.

Others can chime in with their thoughts.

Rarity 7 means that when the book was printed (1962) 10 to 19 were estimated to exist.

This one might be worth slabbing.

Here you go Dave.
After searching every dealer at the Whitman Expo over two days I found one store card to buy. I need this Saginaw City for my city/town collection. This leaves me 5 to go.

Bill, I hope you had a wonderful visit w/ your daughter. My son is currently serving in the AF and is stationed at Avieno, Italy. It'll be quite a while before we see him again .

And as always, on your latest acquisition! I'm sure it has to feel good knowing you're now down to only 5 more to go.

@ arby96, very nice CWT. We'll all be waiting for additional pics of your other tokens

Thank you Penny Guy, I will have to get the book. I just won this auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/16125971175....m1497.l2649 Can't wait to get it. I looked on Amazon for that book and they want $175 for it. There are two books on ebay I am watching. I sure hope they don't go that high. Here is another Pic.

The Jaeger book just gives an overview, but is near useless for identifying the large number of varieties of CWTs. I have it but wish I hadn't bought it. The Fuld & Bowers books are much much better in my experience.

Your ebay auction seems a bit overpriced for 48 wheat cents, one IHC and one CWT. Just my opinion of course. You would be safe assuming that a CWT marketed like that isn't going to be anything special. Post pics of that CWT when you get it and we can help ID it for you.

To attribute CWT's the Fuld books (current ones on Patriotic tokens is the 5th edition, and Store Cards is the 2nd edition) The Civil War Token Society is updating the Store Card book but no specific release date is known yet. Good deals on CWT books are available to CWTS members. Membership also brings you the The Civil War Token Journal four times a year. It is full of Member research and a wealth of information. Penny Guy I agree with you I appear to have paid a bit much for the roll, If there are at least three CWT in the roll I will break about even. Its like purchasing a bunch of lottery tickets and winning only $2 dollars back. I have purchased rolls in the past not with a CWT on it but Pennies and have gotten some real nice merc and Barber dimes. Its always a chance. That auction took off in the last 30 seconds I put a bid of $75 bucks on it and it went to $72 at the last second. Believe me I wish I could have gotten it for less. My two favorite words are "FOR FREE" lol
