Noodling Find Of The Week?

...another nice PNC one dollar find

The Waltzing Matilda Centenary dollar coin of 1995, with the "M" mintmark as stamped at the Melbourne Agricultural Show.

I found this coin whilst noodling last night. I first looked at the obverse of the coin thinking "ah, that is a very nice condition 1995 dollar coin" I got the real shock when I looked at the reverse

I've not much to say about 10 coins...! I've gone through about $200 worth, and only need to find a 1985 to complete a circulated year set.

I've found 20c coins quite fun to noodle though, and have gone through around $600 worth so far and picked up a few varieties, like this 2004 large head (on the right of the image):



And the thin 7 (left) vs thick 7 (right)varieties from 2007:



I also found a 1980 straight clip (is this a genuine clip, or has it been run over by a lawnmower or something?! There's no distortion at all to the designs on the coin)




Finally, I also came across a 2013 20c coin with a very weak '3' in the date. The top part of the 3 is almost completely missing:

On to $1 coins!
I keep an eye out for the rotated 2001 Centenary of Federation version, and I have found a slightly dubious "just-past-11-o'clock" version?! which I've tried to show below:




I also found another 2001 CoF which was not rotated, but was off-centre with a double rim effect:



Recently I also found a lovely clean 1988 bicentennial $1, 1984 MoR and 2000 MoR:





But, the most unusual find has to be the 2013 Polar Series 'Rockhopper Penguin'. I had actually gone to the bank to deposit some noodled 20c and 50c coins into the coin counter when I noticed the machine was already being used by an elderly couple. I noticed she was carrying a big wad of lotto tickets, and he had a bag bulging with $1 coins. They actually filled the machine up with their $1 coins, so when I was finished I asked the bank teller if I could have that same $500 bag of $1 coins from the coin counting machine. I reckoned those coins were the proceeds from a social club or lotto syndicate, so I figured there might be some coins in there that were worth having! I wasn't wrong, although this chap has had a bit of a tough time in circulation.



In the bag I also found a total of ten 2014 ANZAC $1 coins. Not bad considering I hadn't seen one up to that point! There were also eight 2000 $1 coins, but no mule(as if I could be that lucky!)

They've certainly had a hard life.

What's the mark on the largest roos elbow? Is it just a stain or perhaps a Cud?

Good haul baker_boy0 - I think the clipped 20c is fake as I think there should be some distortion around the bases of the letters on the obverse. 1972 5c pieces are getting hard too - I've only ever found one, though I don't go through 5c pieces that often.

....some further "noodling success". Picked up the US Quarter "Alaska - The Great Land" in amongst my $1 coins. This joins the other five US Quarter state coins from my Australian noodling

Actually, I am not sure whether the "Vicksburg Mississippi" coin belongs to this series. Looks like this shows the Civil War Ironclad "USS Cairo", which was sunk by a Confederate mine.
