Bought this raw from a friend on a different forum. He said he guaranteed it would grade XF......he was right on the money.  Love the back on this series.  |

My interest in currency has pretty much taken a back seat to coins but after reviewing one of the currency books recommended in a few threads, I figured that I would look through a few straps at my local credit union the next time I was in. This morning was really slow when I made my visit, so I asked if they had any newer $2 bills. My favorite teller went to the vault and came back with over 400 of them. She actually let me go through them right there at the counter. There were many newer bills, mostly 2013 series and plenty of ratty ones. I took a few of the nicer ones as examples and to not seem ungrateful. I was about to cash out when I spied this one. It looked GREAT had a low number and was a star note to boot!  I think it's a 1939-B* New York, with a print run of 128,000. Can someone confirm this for me? Could I be having a case of beginner's luck? Edited by Singer

Steve - nice note. I think these final large-size FRNs are a good value today in higher grades of XF and up. I have a number of these and will try to post one or two tomorrow.

Found this at the bank today. Oldest green seal I have found in circulation!    Think it's worth getting graded? Edited by rbaum82

Great find! This Priest/Humphrey note was printed between 1953 and 1957, around 60 years ago. Looks XF or so - wonder where it's been hiding?

Not sure where it was hiding but sure glad my bank teller was looking out for me. Great addition to my growing currency collection.
