Recent pickup and a reminder of values to be found as auctions wind down. This note has beautiful embossing, clear paper wave and at least 65 if not 66 centering. I was the only bidder at less than $250 all in.  |

One of my latest, and my first US fractional, a ¢50 2nd issue note. The front bronze oval over Washington's portrait seems to be darker and more to the left than the example I see in the Guide Book of US Paper Money by the Friedbergs. Has anyone seen this in these notes?   |

From the photos I have in my (newly-acquired) Standard Guide your oval does appear to be shifted. I imagine that's not unusual though. We see printing shifts frequently in this day and age of precision. I have to think that those ovals could easily have moved around. The large black "50" overprint on the back also looks different than what I see in the Standard Guide - it's shifted left a bit. |

Today I received a 1935G No-Motto $1 Silver Certificate in the mail. It will have to wait until I have access to a scanner for photos. This one is PMG 66EPQ. I am really enjoying the graded notes, and I think I will start to push to 67s as I continue to shop for these guys. Photos to come.

And now that I'm back at a scanner, here is the 1935G No Motto $1 Certificate I received the other day. I'm guessing the margins kept it at 66.  |
