There is a Meredith note on display at the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles. They have a small group of notes on display in their museum. It is in rough shape though. They do tours at the Federal Reserve which is really interesting to visit!

I purchased my first large size note this past weekend. I hope it wasn't too bad of a purchase for $60. What does everyone think for my first large size note?   |

I got it at a local coin and stamp show here in Prattville AL - not a whole lot there - but at least I was able to pickup something I was hoping to get!

Picked this up raw this week. This is one of the toughest large notes to find in Gem because of the tiny front margins, which leave almost no room for error. Nice paper and embossing, should be solid 64 with a decent shot at 65. There actually is a full top obverse margin there which doesn't show well because the note is tilted back.   Edited by Coinfrog

From the photo the reverse looks very nice also; clean all around near as I can observe. Good luck.

Thanks. The reverse is wide left but hopefully still in bounds.
Of note, the complicated reverse was an early anti-counterfeiting device.

Beautiful note Mr.Frog. I love the center vignette of the United States Capitol and everyday life depicted in the late 19th century....one of my favorite engravings that the BEP used for many years. My example is identical except for a larger treasury seal.  |

I'm with Steve - great vignette. Can you imagine being able to walk by (or even right up to) the United States Capitol building like that?
Steve, what's the hourglass-looking symbol at the end of the serial on your $2?

Stever - Near-identical design perhaps, but yours is much earlier and a heck of a lot more interesting!
