Correct, and the lower grade is the result of rapid removal from the production line, and someone placed it back in the production line where it received the 3rd set of Serial Numbers and entered circulation. I had purchased this from the person who had received it from the ATM in late Feb. 2006.
The lower AU50 grade is similar to all the Series 1988A Inverted Overprint Errors printed on the Web Notes.
In my year's of searching Web Errors, I have yet to locate a 1988A Inverted error Grade AU or higher, unlike the 1995 Web-Press Inverted & 1988A Overprint on Back Errors that have all Gradeed AU & above.

Thanks for drawing my attention to that Broken... I had not seen it, and whilst errors are not my speciality that's a great note. Certainly an interesting one to anybody who collects.

Hey Broken-Coin, I had this in my watch list on ebay, 122646412740, that makes three in a row! Not a bad price either but too rich for me LOL. Anything new on the Gilbert Paper front? |

I was the under bidder at $761 when I decided to focus on the Web Solid from the same seller that ended the next day.
I advised the seller that his Inverted Overprint added 3 additional Serials to my Census of Confirmed Errors (as each of the original 16 Bank Packs had 3 consecutively numbered Inverted Overprints, and 1 note proves all 3 entered circulation) and did get him an extra $150 with my bidding.
As for Gilbert's Notes, SteveInTampa would be the one to answer your question since he has both the 1963 C-A Gilbert Note + at least one of the 1963A examples found in Gilbert's Safe. In hindsight, I'm kinda glad I don't have any Gilbert Notes, as it would drive me insane (more than I am) as I would definitely want to have Forensics Testing done to show that the Notes found in Gilbert's Safe was printed on Gilbert Test Paper. If proven so, they can be Certified as such. (Each Paper Manufacture leaves it's own fingerprint)
I'm still working on Natick, and earlier today received a reply from Natick Labs on my FOIA Request saying it will cost me $45 per hour before they research my questions...
I replied that before I submit my questions, I want to know if they can cap the price to $500 maximum, and this is to satisfy myself and prior to doing any damage to the PCGS-66 note when I start Forensics Testing, they may have a easier way where I can confirm a Natick from a Crane.
If anyone else wants to share part of this, I will share all information received (just hope if the information was classified at the time, that enough time had passed to declassify it)
Hopefully it will all work out in the end.

Picked up this nice crisp note this week, great color and natural paper. These early USN $2s are among the most difficult of the later-date large notes to find in top condition because of the tiny obverse margins, which don't leave much room for error. Fortunately, the $2s didn't seem much more popular back then than they are today, so there are still plenty of new ones around to choose from.  |

10 consecutive 1923 $1 SC's. The notes themselves are common, but to find 10 consecutive is not as common.  |
