Nice pick-up jg86 of the ms63 1927 25c.

This is good proof that bargains are to be had and more importantly, our Canadian coin market is still reeling since the Financial crisis of 2008.

Prior to 2008, you could have easily sold this coin to a dealer for 60% of trends.

They in turn would have flipped it quickly for anywhere between 80% and 100% of trends.

So if you know someone is bidding up their own auctions can they not get in trouble?

doubleeagle - thanks. TCNC has auctioned off about 4 of these in the last 5ish years, and each one sold for $1850 or $1900, plus bp and taxes. That means the buyer paid over trends for each one. I was really happy. I've nearly completed the KGV series of Quarters in MS60+, but 15, 21 and 27 were going to be difficult... it was nice to get one at a good price.

Coin Chick - Yes, but ebay rarely does anything about that stuff.

Dbooth ...and kiss any extra cash good bye, if you are like me, you will spend the money to acquire money .

I purchased two Farewell to the Penny 20 for 20's from a dealer today. The only two he had left.

The dealer said that it cost him more to purchase these coins than the general public....didn't get a chance to ask why (he was busy with a couple of bigger spenders than myself), however, got them for 10% off (boxing day sale).
Very pleased.

No, not at all RD, I paid a $4.05 dollar premium on each....it was $48.10 total for the two. Happy even with the premium.

Edited by adding the original price of $26.95 each.
Not a big savings but I dislike any premium on something that originally would have cost 20 bucks!

Yes it was C.B. I've had an I.C.C.S., AU-58 for the past 10 years now which I've always been Happy with. For some strange reason I felt the urge to upgrade! I don't have the coin in my possession yet, I just won it in last night's Christmas Auction. (Lot #593)

Kavern! Yes it's for sale. It's in my safety deposit box at the bank at this time. Major snow storm outside and banks are closed as a result of Holliday.
The Reverse is an MS-63 and the Obverse has no wear which is why I was confused over the AU-58 grade from I.C.C.S. The coin was originally in a P.C.G.S. slab 10 years ago graded MS-61. I can't keep hard slabs in my safety deposit box as a result of limited space, so off to I.C.C.S. the coin went and it came back an AU-58.
Coin is blast white, problem free beauty!
I've noticed lately that the Double HP Variety in the '48 silver dollar has surfaced? I never knew a 2x HP even existed, I'll have to take a close look at both mine when in hand.

Thank you Glenn. I really would love a ms-64 1948. Could not pull the trigger. I have a ms-62 from 4 years ago and the urge to upgrade have not overcome me. Hahaha.
