1941-S Nickel, Overpolished Die.

Picked up this mint state or high AU nickel for $3. There was a major clash removed in the ponytail area. The remaining hair is very shallow—our dear friend Tom almost had a short hair cut! The remnants of the clash are visible on the top edge of Monticello, where they are probably harder to polish out. I can't see much polishing evidence elsewhere (although this is a LDS die with PIDT). Maybe the clash was steeply angled in that one quadrant, producing a deep clash.
