Several weeks ago, I had a conversation with my manager and she revealed that she used to collect coins, but not very much. I asked her to look out for older coins, and she saved me a 1961 nickel, which was nice. Yesterday I found a 1959 silver dime in a coworker's till! I showed my manager the dime so she can identify silver when she counts tills.  |

Rescued these little orphaned notes, including a 1937 $1 note. Got them from a local RBC branch in Vancouver. The friendly bank teller told me she received these notes a few days ago from a customer who took them in for deposit.  [/URL] |

Thats a nice pick up , what was the face value. They would have been destroyed by BOC. Looks like they are in good condition too.

The FV was $146. Many of $2 bird series notes are UNC, and some of the $1 1973 series are also UNC. The 1973 series $2 many are EF/AU, the $5 notes are EF/AU.
The 1937 $1 would grade G. All those years, and just worth $1 today. Could have done a lot with that dollar back in the 1940's

 Great rescue on those notes! And the 1958 nickel, too! I'm really starting to wonder how rare the Macklem/Carney $5 polymer bills are. I just received another one from a customer at work yesterday. Perhaps the Bank of Canada decided to release them or something. Edit: Too lazy to post another picture. Slightly worse shape than the previous one I got, with the usual 3 vertical folds as well as 2 small corner folds. Numbers aren't special either: HBG0256885. Still keeping because they're uncommon. Ya I was kind of disappointed after looking so hard to find a M/C 5$ note and then to find three in two days. They will still be a little rare but I don't think as rare as people first thought. Glad I didn't put out big money to get one, mine are face and have little risk.

Got three more today 1894084,0779216 and 2447175. Two Cu and one with two folds. Seems there are all of a sudden alot floating around out there.

Transferred $4000 between banks in $100, $50, and $20 bills. Found two UNC $100s that were pretty close to replacement notes  , but then an actual $50 sheet replacement note  . No interesting serial numbers, but a close call was FIP 7828587. FMT 1.920M - 1.960M  Middle range of EF. A couple vertical folds and several flicks. Out of the many $50s, this was one of the best.  This is my second sheet replacement from the frontier series. $50 isn't too cheap, though. Edited by Shoeplier

Although I don't have a photo of it, in about 2009 at a McDonalds in Vancouver, I got a 1922 penny (VG cleaned) in my change. I couldn't believe my eyes. Thinking back on it, I wonder what else was in the till?

I got my first 2015 quarter and 2013 toonie today. Wonder what is with the 2013 toonie that took me so long to find? Not like it's a low mintage year ir anything.

Just picked up this new Birthday Note from the Bank. Only problem is I don't know anyone born Sept. 5th 1978. Maybe I will just spend it.  |
